About Us
Our Story
Cape Town Plastic Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd was founded with a clear mission: to strengthen local manufacturing, safeguard jobs, and ensure a reliable supply of high-quality plastic components for South African industries.
Our journey began in response to the challenges faced by Creative Housewares, a leading provider of small domestic appliances, during South Africa’s severe load-shedding crisis in 2022 and 2023. With nearly 40% of production reliant on local injection molding partners, widespread power disruptions led to the unfortunate liquidation of several key suppliers. One facility in Atlantis, uniquely positioned within a load-shedding-exempt industrial zone, became a critical partner in maintaining production. However, when the facility faced closure due to the owner’s retirement, we took decisive action.
With the support of our Spanish shareholders, we established Cape Town Plastic Manufacturing and acquired the assets of the Atlantis facility, securing over 40 jobs and ensuring continued production. This strategic investment has allowed us to take full control of our injection molding capabilities, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and local industry growth.
Our facility operates 16 injection molding machines, with ongoing refurbishments and maintenance to enhance efficiency. We prioritize sustainability by utilizing two granulators for recycling post-production waste and quality control rejects. Additionally, we have upgraded the plant’s cooling systems, improving production efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
To ensure operational continuity, we maintain an in-house toolroom for machine and tooling maintenance, along with an 800 kVA generator for critical operations. Our capabilities expanded further in early 2024 with the introduction of a 560-ton injection molding machine, featuring our first robotic automation system to enhance efficiency and reduce cycle times. We have since added three more high-capacity machines:
-
A 370-ton machine with a bi-metallic screw for processing high-wear plastics
-
A 550-ton machine equipped with robotic automation
-
A 650-ton machine, enabling the production of South Africa’s first locally manufactured box and turbine floor fans
At Cape Town Plastic Manufacturing, we are committed to building a resilient, world-class plastic manufacturing facility. By investing in technology, sustainability, and local job creation, we are shaping the future of South African manufacturing—one innovation at a time.
